How much more depressing can Sundays get?
The Sunday morning routine is an important part of my week: up reasonably early, coffee, Sunday Times, family still in bed and time to read in peace. Bliss. But last year I started to find that my reading only made me angry or disappointed in what was happening in our country and world.
But today I really wonder: can it get even more depressing? The Sunday Times report of the YouGov Poll that suggests that Gordon Brown may win the next election just has to be the most depressing piece of news I’ve read for a long, long time.
How can we be moving to a position whereby we re-elect a Government that has so clearly failed to deliver on so many policies, has failed to truly support our military from the outset of operations, has wasted billion on pounds on ridiculous initiatives as well as on banks and has lost of the confidence of just about everyone I talk to.
I’ve not spoken to anyone in recent months who is prepared to believe any of the statements that emanate from the mouth of Brown. So what is it that is causing the poll to suggest that he might stay in Downing Street? Are we blind, stupid or is there fear of the alternative?
Surely “the devil you know” argument is not a basis for political decision making.

Welcome
I help people: by using my enthusiasm and idealism I try to inspire and support others to achieve their potential. And through the postings and musings in this blog I hope that I will be able to assist others through some of my experience and insight. If you want to take issue with anything you read here, please do, and I look forward to debating with you in the years to come.

Alan, I couldn't agree with you more – you wake up feeling bright and sunny … look at the papers and want to slit your wrists, especially when you see a lovely picture of Gordon like you have in your blog! LOL
The current Government is appalling but unfortunately we have bred a nation of apathy … no one cares … and then when it all goes "belly up" they moan … why don't people put their money where their mouth is? I don't know how we have managed to degenerate to a nation like this from an empire that we once were … a mystery.
I have to say that I'm not too keen on the Conservatives either, … they seem to be full of hot air, but a change in any direction would be good. Why don't more people actually vote? Don't they realise that it is a right that they have and that a lot of people died getting it? Don't they understand that if they don't vote, then they can't complain when they don't agree with what the powers that be are doing to their lives.
Now, I think I'll go into a dark corner and sulk! LOL
Thanks.
Maybe we’ll re elect him because the alternative seems even more vile? I know I wont even be voting. We have the same problems we had under the Cons and I think anyone who thinks things will change under there rule, sorry, leadership, is living in a dreamland.
